Significant visual fidelity was added this week. Particle effects, more animations, and general aesthetic quality moved us closer to a final product. Shadows were also improved, and the stage backgrounds and walls were improved to be more visually pleasing.
Bug fixing, of course, also occurred this week. Menus were improved significantly and a lot of collision-related bugs were squashed. Visual effects such as the bullet trail, which had been implemented previously, were improved and highlighted. We also addressed dashing bugs, which were surprisingly hard to stamp out due to surprising differences between the built version and test version of the game.
In terms of major gameplay improvements we implemented a system to de-incentivize bullet spamming. Previously, players were best off spamming a large number of bullets in order to cover a large screen space. By making bullets become smaller as they are fired we are now incentivizing players to take careful shots and trap their opponents through using their secondary weapons.
